This site employs cookies in order to ensure the proper functioning of the site. This document provides detailed information on the use of cookies in accordance with the regulations of May 8, 2014 on the identification of methods for providing information and obtaining consent for the use of cookies (Published in the Official Gazette No. 126 of June 3, 2014).
What are cookies
Cookies are small text strings that sites visited by the user send to the user’s terminal (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then transmitted back to the same sites the next time the same user visits. In the course of browsing a site, the user may also receive on his terminal equipment cookies that are sent by different sites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which some elements (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the site he is visiting may reside.
Cookies, usually present in users’ browsers in very large numbers and sometimes also with characteristics of wide temporal persistence, are used for different purposes: performing computer authentication, monitoring sessions, storing information about specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, etc…
For the purposes of this measure, two macro-categories are therefore identified: “technical” cookies and “profiling” cookies.
Technical cookies
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service” (see Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
They are not used for any further purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or operator. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure the normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas); analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies where they are used directly by the website operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the website functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the same.
Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same in the context of web browsing. Due to the particular invasiveness that these devices can have within the private sphere of users, European and Italian regulations provide that the user must be adequately informed about their use and thus express his/her valid consent. They are referred to in Article 122 of the Code where it provides that “the storage of information in the terminal device of a contractor or user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has expressed his or her consent after having been informed in the simplified manner referred to in Article 13, paragraph 3” (Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
What cookies this site uses
This site uses technical cookies strictly necessary for the proper functioning of its components (aimed at optimizing security, speed and ensuring anonymous statistics), the management of comments, forms (whether contact or not), registration, authentication and user profile, if and when necessary.
Different tools and content, may require the installation of third-party cookies in order – for example – to share articles and pages or embed multimedia elements such as videos from Youtube, or similar services. Disabling these cookies, although possible, to date does not allow you to take advantage of the functions offered by the site.
How to disable/remove cookies
It is usually possible to customize cookie settings by changing the configuration of the browser in use, so as to prevent their tacit and automatic acceptance. In most cases, however, such a setup, can preclude proper browsing on this and many other sites – cookies are in fact a useful and sometimes indispensable tool.
